Matt LeBlanc returns, after a hiatus, to play a fictionalized version of himself in the final season of “Episodes.” And “Masterpiece” is back with more murder mysteries to be solved by Endeavour Morse.

What’s on TV

EPISODES 10 p.m. on Showtime. Matt LeBlanc is back as … Matt LeBlanc, or rather his Golden Globe-winning spoof of himself, in the fifth and final season of this comedy from David Crane and Jeffrey Klarik. Tamsin Greig and Stephen Mangan play Beverly and Sean, married British television writers whose erudite award-winning sitcom about the headmaster of an elite boys’ school is dumbed down by a Hollywood studio, with the starring role going to Mr. LeBlanc. This Season 5 opener finds him, now demoted to game-show host — or perhaps promoted, since it’s become a hit — and dallying with a contestant after hours. Beverly and Sean, meanwhile, are forced by Helen (Andrea Savage), the network head, to work on their new series with Sean’s former partner, Tim (Bruce Mackinnon), as show runner. Catch up on the previous four seasons on ShowtimeAnytime.com.

For more of Andrea Savage, stream “I’M SORRY,” on truTV, her semi-autobiographical series about a seemingly together, tad too-eager-to-please comedy writer who only looks like a grown-up as she plays off her more strait-laced husband, Mike (Tom Everett Scott), and their preschooler, Amelia (Olive Petrucci); her writing partner, Kyle (Jason Mantzoukas); and her divorced parents (Martin Mull and Kathy Baker). The show’s producers include Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and the Lonely Island comedy trio: Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer.

ENDEAVOUR 9 p.m. on PBS. This “Masterpiece” mystery moves into the summer of 1967, when the Cold War and the counterculture are overtaking Oxford, and Detective Constable Endeavour Morse (Shaun Evans) is awaiting the result of his sergeant’s exam while self-medicating his broken heart. Then a serial killer strikes, and he must race to find the connection between a chess-playing machine and a bizarre drowning.
