A warning has been issued over Lidl’s What’s Cooking? Frozen Meat Free Mince and Waitrose’ Meet The Alternative Beef Style Mince, which is also sold at Ocado.
The What’s Cooking? Frozen Meat Free Mince product is 454g and all ‘best before’ dates are involved.
Meet The Alternative Beef Style Mince is 500g and batches with January 2018, February 2018 and April 2018 ‘best before’ dates are included in the warning.
The products may contain pieces of blue plastic which could represent a safety risk.
The Foods Standards Agency has issued the following advice on its website: “If you have bought any of the above products do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”
Waitrose told Mirror.co.uk: “Meet The Alternative are recalling the above frozen product as some packs may contain small pieces of blue plastic.
“Any customers who have bought this frozen product should not consume it, but return it to Waitrose for a full refund.
“No other Meet The Alternative products are affected by this recall.
“We apologise for any inconvenience to our customers.”
The spokesperson from the German discounter said: “Lidl UK is recalling What’s Cooking? Frozen Meat Free Mince, 454g, all best before dates, due to out supplier finding small pieces of blue plastic in the product.
“If you have bought the above product we advise you not to eat it. Instead, return it to Lidl store for a full refund.
“Other What’s Cooking? products are not affected by this recall.”

Sainsbury’s also issued a product recall this week after sandwich fillers were found to contain Listeria.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said 13 sandwich fillers were being re-called over fears they could contain Listeria monocytogenes.
