The term is commonly used as a synonym for computers and computer networks, but it also encompasses other information distribution technologies such as television and telephones. Today its use is very common and is related to almost every organization working in the world. Several industries are associated with information technology, such as computer hardware, software, electronics, semiconductors, internet, telecom, e-commerce and computer services.

In the business context, the Information Technology Association of America has defined information technology (IT) as “the study, design, development, application, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems”. The business value of information technology is to automate business processes, provide information for decision making, connect business with their customers, and provide productivity tools to increase efficiency.

The world of IT is rapidly growing and is of great value to us. Many organizations are abundant with computers in their offices rather than employees. Its role is not limited and it is not restricted to a certain point or task.

Almost every person now day’s uses internet to keep them updated with the world as internet has transformed the entire world into a global village where anyone can reach the other person in no time without any hassle or inconvenience. People can send sms online, with the help of internet more over they can easily talk to others located at long distances. This is the power of technology and we cannot assume how much it has infiltrated in our lives.

Most of the people are so much addicted to the use of IT that they have made it their dependency. Using different social media websites to communicate with their friends and browsing on various other amusing fun websites are their hobbies.
