Upvan Arts Festival in Thane

Thane keeping its tradition of hosting exclusive events in and around the city is going to be buzzed up with yet another event the Upvan Arts Festival. Sponsored by MTDC along with event partners TMC and hospitality sponsors Fortune this mega event is going to be first of its kind. Organizers have tastefully chosen Upvan Lake as the venue for this extra ordinary event of music, art and artistic happenings in the heart of the city. This sprawling lake one of the biggest in Thane is surrounded by picturesque Yeoor hills at its backdrop. It’s a huge site spread on a fifteen acres easily accessible from eastern express highway.  

No doubt Thane is going to get transformed into an art city during this festival, which will be conducted in the second week of January 2014 lasting for three days 10th, 11th and 12th Great shows of live concerts and artistic performances will be distributed on well decorated stages, which can accommodate thousands of viewers. This exotic well organized event is going to break the records of all individual events organized earlier in Thane. Rightfully it can be mentioned as a Mega event of art, music, culinary art and an exhibition of exclusive handicrafts selected from worldwide places. The idea of sponsoring such a massive event came forward from the residents and art lovers of Thane.  

Three days of the art festival are dedicated to three different themes of the festival. Day one is specially kept for the maestros of our time like Ustad Zakir Hussain who will be presenting his unbelievable skills on Tabla. U Srinivas with mandolin, V Selva Ganesh and Rakesh Chaurasia with his magical flute. Day two is reserved for Indian classical singers like Roop Kumar Rathod, Ranjani Gayatri and Rashid Khan. Day three will be day of the popular devotional singers who are rarely seen in live concerts.
