Thirty years ago, Northwood Little League’s major all-stars went to Williamsport for World Series – Orange County Register

Northwood Little League’s major all-stars caught the attention of local baseball fans when it went all the way to the Little League World Series in Williamsport 30 years ago.

Northwood won the national championship before losing to Hua Lian, 21-1, in the World Series championship game in August of 1987.

In recognition of the achievement of the team, we’re taking a look back, starting with highlights of the team’s tournaments, on the 30th anniversary, of Northwood Little League going to Williamsport.

DISTRICT 55 TITLE

Northwood recorded five consecutive victories. In the final, Northwood beat North Mission Viejo, 9-1. Aron Garcia won his third consecutive game and Ryan Jones went 4 for 4.

SECTION 5 TITLE

Northwood won three consecutive games, including a 5-2 triumph over La Habra in the championship. Garcia picked up two of the victories with two complete games.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA DIVISION 3 TITLE
