The earthquake hit before noon on Tuesday. Initial reports said it was a 7.1.

A video from the Floating Gardens of Xochimilco, which is a popular canal in Mexico, illustrates the earthquake’s movement through huge waves of water.

More videos taken during the earthquake capture the impact it had on buildings.
