There is an adage in sports that all parents and their young athletes have heard, “sports is 90% mental and 10% physical. “ While the actual percentages are unknown, this tried, and true quote had always had validity. Only recently have sports psychology experts taken the balance between the mental and athletic aspects of sports to new scientific levels.
Amanda Ferranti is dedicating her career to establish the healthy balance a young athlete needs to perform at their highest levels of both mental and physical abilities. Amanda is the director and founder of Ferranti Empowerment where she has firmly established herself as a highly respected mental skills consultant for youth athletes, teams, and coaches. Amanda, a top competitive athlete, has an M.A. in Sport and Exercise Psychology, and a B.A. in Psychology from Princeton University,
Ferranti is enthusiastic when she talks about the rewards and challenges that evolve from a comprehensive sports psychology program. Amanda remarks, “In the 10 to 14 year old range young athletes need the skill set and reinforcement to manage their emotions under an increasingly high amount of pressure. Amanda Ferranti has achieved viable results working with young client athletes in a variety of sports. Ferranti Empowerment concentrated on mental skills with a talented lacrosse player. As a result of increased intellectual understanding, the player later graduated to play D1 lacrosse, helping his team advance to the NCCA tournament with 17 goals in his freshman year.
