Stagecoach 2017 isn’t Kenny Chensey’s first rodeo – Orange County Register

Country music singer-songwriter and record producer Kenny Chesney is no stranger to the annual Stagecoach Country Music Festival. In fact, he was one of the headliners at the very first fest back in 2007 and he liked it so much that he returned in 2009 and again in 2011.

Though it has been six years since he’s set foot on the sprawling landscape of the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Chesney has certainly kept himself busy. He dominated Angel Stadium in Anaheim with his No Shoes Nation Tour in 2013, sold out the Rose Bowl in Pasadena with The Big Revival Tour in 2015 and rocked the Sleep Train (now Mattress Firm) Amphitheatre in Chula Vista with his Spread the Love Tour last summer.

However, none of that means that the eight-time Entertainment of the Year award-winner with over two dozen No. 1 singles to his name thinks that closing out Stagecoach for a fourth time on Sunday, April 30 is going to be a piece of cake.

“The thing about Stagecoach is the fans,” Chesney said via an email interview earlier this month. “They love music and all kinds of music. Not just the stuff you hear on the radio, but the deep-dive stuff, historic stuff, roots stuff – and it brings a real hunger and curiosity. So when we’re playing to those folks Sunday night, it sets a pretty high bar because I know they’ve seen the best of everything there is to see. And even with all that music, they cheer louder, sing along more and make us feel like we’re the first act they’ve seen all weekend.”
