The 35-year-old – who is thought to be expecting a baby girl with fiancé Alexis Ohanian – posed nude for the August issue of the publication, with the gorgeous photograph being shot by Annie Leibovitz.
The image sees Serena using her right hand to cover her bare chest, with her standing to one side to highlight her blossoming belly.
Serena oozed confidence as she stood with the other hand on her hip and gazing out to the side, while her brunette locks cascaded down her back in luscious curls.
The accompanying interview saw Serena gush about the moment her friend Jessica Steindorff suggested she take a pregnancy test.
Serena said of what she told her: “I’ll take it just because (a) to prove you wrong and (b) because it’s fun, whatever. It’s like a joke. Why not?
“I put it down. I went back to finishing hair and makeup, was laughing, talking. I was getting the styling done. An hour and a half later, I went back to the bathroom and I totally forgot about it because it was impossible for me…
“So I went back to get dressed and I went back in the bathroom and I was like, ‘Oh yeah, that test’.”
Serena then went on to say that she couldn’t believe that she was actually expecting a baby at first, despite Jessica shrieking in delight at the results.
The tennis ace continued: “[I] did a double take and my heart dropped. Like literally it dropped.
“Oh my God, this can’t be—I’ve got to play a tournament. How am I going to play the Australian Open? I had planned on winning Wimbledon this year.”
Serena’s shoot comes after her sister Venus accidentally confirmed the sex of her unborn baby at the 2017 French Open earlier this month.
The 36-year-old, who comfortably won in her match against Kurumi Nara, referred to the unborn baby as a “she” before going on to suggest female names.
