Remodeled King’s Fish House thrives despite lack of construction at Laguna Hills Mall – Orange County Register

The halting of a massive makeover of the Laguna Hills Mall has not set back King’s Fish House, which appears to be thriving after a $1.5 million makeover.

On a chilly Thursday evening, the casual seafood restaurant was packed with diners enjoying the refurbished dining room, bar and outdoor patios. The restaurant recently reopened after closing in late September for a major makeover.

The new look includes wood flooring and new furniture — from booths to bar stools. Heavy nautical ropes woven in a crisscross pattern dangle above a dramatic new bar with indoor-outdoor seating.

The design is similar to its upscale sister-restaurant, Water Grill in Costa Mesa. Water Grill and the more casual King’s Fish House restaurants are both owned by Costa Mesa-based King’s Seafood Co.
