According to the most recent data from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) and the Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS), alcohol addiction is the number one, (approx. 23%), reported cause of admission to treatment programs, with the combination of alcohol plus another drug in close second – (approx. 18%). As the problem of alcohol and substance abuse continues to increase in the United States, the demand for accurate, cost-effective and convenient solutions grows along with it. As such, mobile testing devices and services are being used and prescribed more than ever before by problem-solving courts, probation departments, rehab facilities and alcohol treatment programs to facilitate detection and prevention of alcohol relapse.

RecoveryTrek LLC (RT) has offered a variety of Breath Alcohol (BAC) testing devices to its clients and participants for several years as a part of its “GetBAC” testing program. However, with today’s announcement, the company can now provide a higher level of accuracy and reliability by offering a portable device for BAC testing that appears on the U.S. Department of Transportation, (DOT), National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, (NHTSA, conforming products list (CPL) of Alcohol Screening Devices. Alcohol screening devices (ASD) and evidential breath testing (EBT) on the NHTSA conforming products lists (CPL) for non-evidential and evidential devices – respectively – are the only devices allowed to be used to conduct alcohol screening tests under the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) rule, 49 CFR Part 40, which describes required procedures for conducting workplace drug and alcohol testing for the Federally regulated transportation industry.
