The 2016-17 college football bowl schedule is out. Here are the dates, matchups and TV info for the New Year’s Six games.

Our bowl countdown continues with Nos. 30-21, still in the lower half of the speculative watchability rankings but at least approaching some of the more interesting pairings on the slate.

30. New Orleans Bowl: Southern Mississippi (6-6) vs. Louisiana-Lafayette (6-6), Dec. 17, 9 p.m. ET, ESPN — The participants and their fans won’t have far to travel for this event, at least, though it isn’t likely to generate much interest beyond the region. The Golden Eagles tended to sink or swim with QB Nick Mullens, who returned from a two-game absence due to a concussion in time to lead a needed win against Louisiana Tech in the season finale. The Ragin’ Cajuns are happy to be here as well after finishing 4-8 a year ago. They had to win their last two, including an upset of Sun Belt co-champ Arkansas State, to make it happen.

29. Cure Bowl: Arkansas State (7-5) vs. Central Florida (6-6), Orlando, Dec. 17, 5:30 p.m. ET, CBSSN — As mentioned, the RedWolves shared the Sun Belt crown. But they posted a non-league mark of 0-4, including a puzzler against FCS member Central Arkansas. Their reward is in effect a road game, and the Knights will be quite pleased for the chance to defend their home turf after going winless in 2015. UCF has no standout wins but acquitted itself well in a one-point loss to eventual AAC champion Temple.

28. Military Bowl: No. 24 Temple (10-3) vs. Wake Forest (6-6), in Annapolis, Md., Dec. 27, 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN — Speaking of Temple, the Owls probably deserved a better fate in several regards. They claimed the title in the most competitive, top-to-bottom, of the group-of-five conferences, only to see their coach hired away and to earn just a short bowl trip. The Demon Deacons are…
