Radius Systems Picks Vanguard Software to Improve Demand Forecasts, Production Plans

It was fairly obvious, even in our initial search of the market, that the Vanguard software would be a very good fit to our requirements, said Chris Draper, Business Analyst at Radius Systems.

Radius Systems signed on as Vanguard Software’s latest Forecast Server Customer, part of an expanding base of European manufacturers seeking an automated platform for demand forecasting, Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), and Integrated Business Planning (IBP).

Established in 1965 and based in the U.K., Radius Systems develops and manufactures plastic pipes and fittings for the gas, water, wastewater, energy & power, and telecoms sectors. Until now, the company had relied on its ERP system to forecast demand volume, but only at the SKU level. Any further data manipulation was handled in spreadsheets, and then loaded back in to the ERP system.

This process was time-consuming, error-prone, and ill-suited to forecasting at multiple levels: SKU, customer, product group, etc. Moreover, sales and demand planners had no viable record tracking or reporting capabilities to assess forecast accuracy, or develop confident long-range production plans.

“It was fairly obvious, even in our initial search of the market, that the Vanguard software would be a very good fit to our requirements,” said Chris Draper, Business Analyst at Radius Systems. “We liked the ability to forecast from the top down and the ability to forecast in revenue and convert this value to units, therefore, the system’s ability to manage product prices was essential.”

Chris further explain that with Vanguard, sales people will be able to easily layer their business insights into baseline forecasts, and work collaboratively with demand planners and others to build much more accurate forecasts and plans. Additionally, the system provides an audit trail of any adjustments and overrides, as well as all the tools necessary to measure and improve forecast accuracy, he said. In addition to vastly expanded capability, Chris said he expects that Vanguard will also save considerable time each month as sales and other collaborators will no longer have to manually produce forecasts.
