OCVarsity picks the Orange County Preseason All-County football team for 2017 – Orange County Register

OCVarsity has added something new to its lineup of preview stories for the 2017 high school football season: a Preseason All-County Team.

There will still be an All-County team selected at the end of the season, too, but we wanted to give the O.C. fans our early analysis of the county’s top players.

Here is the team:

PRESEASON ALL-COUNTY

OFFENSE

QB JT DANIELS, MATER DEI, JR.
If the recent USC commit only slightly improves on his 2016, he could reach 5,000 yards and 70 TDs. That’s scary territory.

RB KC CARR, TUSTIN, SR.
The uncommitted senior should run wild again with ground-oriented coach, Myron Miller, calling plays. Carr erupted for 2,757 yards last season.

WR DELON HURT, SERVITE, SR.
Hurt was arguably the best wideout at the Battle at the Beach passing tournament in July. He is ready to be the Friars’ No. 1 target, but Mater Dei’s C.J. Parks and Orange Lutheran’s Kyle Ford are on his heels for this spot on the team.

WR TAE LE, CORONA DEL MAR, SR.
The returning first-team All-County wideout won’t have Chase Garbers throwing him the ball this season, but at 6-foot-4, 237 pounds, Le will still produce.

WR AUSTIN OSBORNE, MISSION VIEJO, SR.
The Washington commit starred with Brock Johnson in 20015 and Matt McDonald in ’16, and now he teams with another new quarterback, Joey Yellen, a transfer from St. John Bosco.

WR AMON-RA ST. BROWN, MATER DEI, SR.
The uncommitted senior might not just be the best receiver in the county. He could be the best player – period.

OL TOMMY BROWN, MATER DEI, SR.
The Alabama commit anchors the best offensive line in the county and will protect JT Daniels’ blindside. That might be the most important job in the county.

OL TYLER CASADOS, LA HABRA, SR.
The La Mirada transfer gives the Highlanders a punishing blocker at guard. Colorado is among the schools that have offered.

OL PESELAO GAUTA, GARDEN GROVE, SR.
At 6-6, 330 pounds, Gauta is among the county’s most imposing players. He can clear a path in a hurry.

OL CHRIS MURRAY, MATER DEI, SR.
Don’t just watch Tommy Brown at left tackle. Be sure to study Murray at right guard and see why Stanford and Notre Dame have recently made offers to him.

OL JARRETT PATTERSON, MISSION VIEJO, SR.
The Diablos have their own standout tackle in Patterson, who recently committed to Arizona State.

K DYLAN BRADY, SANTA MARGARITA, SR.
Brady won the West Coast Kicking Academy’s head-to-head competition in the offseason, taking the spot claimed by Mater Dei’s Chase McGrath (USC) the…
