Monroe College Hosts 29th Annual Holiday Celebration for the Children of Students, Faculty, and Staff

Truth be told, it’s not just the kids that get a kick out of it — our faculty and staff volunteers love it, too. The terrific job they do each year truly showcases the warm, personal culture that defines the College and makes us so special.

Monroe College, a national leader in educating urban and international students, held its 29th annual celebration today for the children of students, faculty, and staff. The popular event traditionally ushers in the holiday season on campus.

King Hall, the main administrative and academic building on the College’s Bronx campus, was transformed overnight into a winter wonderland. Faculty and staff volunteers decorated the building, decking its halls with festive holiday decorations, twinkling lights, strands of garland, and beautifully decorated Christmas trees. They later acted as helpful holiday elves, greeting arriving guests, serving holiday treats, singing holiday songs, and getting into costumes to play super heroes, princesses, and cartoon characters that delighted the children.

Among the highlights of the day were a meet-and-greet photo opportunity with Santa and Mrs. Claus and a holiday-themed show titled “The Magical Monroe Christmas Show,” which was performed by faculty and staff. The holiday event is offered free to the College community.

“We look forward to hosting this event each December for the children of our students, faculty, and staff,” said Marc Jerome, President of Monroe College. “Truth be told, it’s not just the kids that get a kick out of it — our faculty and staff volunteers love it, too. The terrific job they do each year truly showcases the warm, personal culture that defines the College and makes us so special.”
