Mission Viejo High honors alum Konrad Reuland – Orange County Register

MISSION VIEJO – Ralf and Mary Reuland stood in front of a stone placed underneath the scoreboard at Mission Viejo High’s football field and reached out to the plaque on the front of the stone to reconnect with their son Konrad, who passed away in December 2016 of a brain aneurysm at 29-years old.

Mary Reuland couldn’t hold back the tears as she looked upon the plaque that shared his football destinations and a message from the high school.

“Your work ethic, passion for life, and dedication will never be forgotten. Your memory and friendship will be in our hearts forever.”

Konrad Reuland, a 2006 graduate who played tight end for the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens, signed up to be an organ donor seven months before his death, Mary Reuland said. His donated heart went to Major League Baseball Hall-of-Famer Rod Carew.
