Melania Trump Cyberbullied For Pink Dress During Anti-Bullying Press Conference

First Lady Melania Trump faced the wrath of Twitter as she was cyberbullied for wearing an oversized, neon pink dress Wednesday. Incidentally, she was a featured speaker at a United Nations luncheon where she addressed the dangers of cyberbullying.

Melania Trump has addressed the implications of cyberbullying in the past. She first declared her interest in the issue during her husband’s presidential campaign trail in 2016. Melania Trump condemned cyberbullying in Wednesday’s speech and urged world leaders to lead by example.

“When we join together as parents caring for children, whether they live in our own families, across the street, across the nation, or across the globe, we claim our responsibility to the next generation to ensure they are prepared to accept the torch of leadership for the world of tomorrow,” she said Wednesday. “No child should ever feel hungry, stalked, frightened, terrorized, bullied, isolated or afraid, with nowhere to turn.”

Twitter users had plenty to say about Wednesday’s neon pink outfit choice. Several users offered their thoughts on what the dress had reminded them of, with one user comparing it to “the blueberry girl from Willy Wonka.”

A second user said in response, “[President] Trump’s wife turning into bubblegum that looks like it’s about to explode: Proof 101 that climate change & its adverse effects are real.”

Melania Trump was also compared to a hot air balloon.

Other users felt that Melania Trump’s bold dress distracted from her anti-cyberbullying speech.
