Kyrie Irving flew to Seattle to watch the Seattle Storm and Phoenix Mercury face off on Friday night. He documented the trip on Snapchat and said he was excited to see his “good friends” Diana Taurasi ( who broke the league’s all-time scoring record last weekend) and Sue Bird go against each other.

After the Mercury beat the Storm 85-82, Irving caught up with some of the players. Then, he talked about the importance of supporting the WNBA, which he has talkedabout before, and how excited he is for his daughter to grow up and love the sport on his Snapchat Story.

Irving said:

“Turned out to be a great success. Got to see all the girls and got to catch up with them, but most of all it’s about the support for just the great game of basketball. It comes all shapes and forms, and those girls are elite. I even saw B.G. (Brittney Griner) catch a dunk tonight, which I’m pretty happy about. So operation attend Sue Bird vs. Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner, Breanna Stewart and Jewell Lloyd, and all those great girls, complete.

“Lastly, I cannot wait for my daughter to grow up and idolize some of the girls that are playing today and some of the past ones that have already played. She’s gonna love it.”

He captioned that last part with, “She won’t be learning just from me. Good thing to have legendary friends.”

Other NBA players have also been attending WNBA games this offseason, including Dwight Howard and Karl-Anthony Towns.
