The Kansas City Royals Mascot Sluggerrr and other MLB mascots were in Mexico City during Tuesday’s massive earthquake.
Sluggerrr’s account tweeted they had just arrived this morning to promote baseball in Mexico, to work a telethon, and to visit a Children’s Hospital.
Sluggerrr, along with T.C. Bear of the Minnesota Twins were on the way to their hotel with MLB Mexico marketing staff when the quake happened.
The group was in a vehicle stuck in traffic on a bridge when that bridge started to sway.
A tweet said the buildings next to the highway were shaking and people started to stream out of buildings.
The group saw buildings collapse amidst panicked people in the area.
The group with MLB Mexico was not injured.
Sluggerr tweeted he and T.C. Bear are grateful for the helpfulness, generosity, and love they received during the scary event.
