Jump Into VR Festival kicks off this year on Sept 15-17 in New York City’s Lower East Side. The inaugural festival will highlight the latest developments in the VR/XR (virtual reality/extended reality) ecosystem through a series of workshops and presentations with industry experts and thought leaders, as well as cutting edge VR art showcases, experimental performances and VR parties!
“We will be uniting intellectual panels with entertaining experiences, and hopefully some new intuitions will arise in the audience. The best outcome is that people have a lot of fun and maybe some of our guests will be inspired to create that next level VR experience that pushes all of us forward. We want to be a catalyst for intellectual discussion and VR creation,” says executive producer Michael Deathless.
Jump Into VR Fest is an initiative of Jump Into the Light, VR Cinema & Playlab and realized in partnership with Littlstar (a leading global network for 360° videos) and Hotel Indigo Lower East Side. Over the course of three-days, Jump Into the Light’s Orchard Street venue will become a VR playground featuring room scale and multi-player arena VR/XR experiences (HTC Vive, Oculus, Hololens), demo booths, and a CAVE (Cave Automatic Virtual Environment). Next door, Hotel Indigo will be transformed into a VR gallery hosting cinematic VR experiences, presentations, and new media art installations.
Jump Into VR Festival’s ambition is to create a communal space that encourages innovation and sustained dialogue within the growing New York Experiential Tech Community & Industry. This is achieved through critical discussions on the state of VR and explorations of its emerging usages and trends.
“Through Jump Into VR Festival, we aim to build momentum for experiential technologies while carving out space for critical thinking over entertainment,” states project manager Alexandre Girardeau.
Jump Into the Light is a VR Cinema & Playlab founded in 2016 in New York City that is passionate about making virtual reality accessible to a wider audience while building a platform that intersects art, culture and technology.
