Irvine Swim League wraps up fourth week with more fast times – Orange County Register

The Irvine Swim League continued its 32nd season with a very successful and competitive fourth meet.

COLLEGE PARK SPLASH SWIM WITH GREENTREE GATORS

The College Park Splash took on the Greentree Gators Saturday, July 15.

The Splash won four of the six mixed medley relays.  Winning teams included the squad of Mateus Pa, Darren Lam, Sammie Clarke and Nathan Vancleave (age 5-6); the team of Kate Fairchild, Taylor Thongintra, Ella Jarzyna and Brooke Knisely (age 7-8); the team of Loryn Lam, Addie Boomsma, Isabella Wall, and Brenden Cook (age 11-12); and the team of Kazuki Goto, Alex Palakian, Sloane McCahill and Will Nomura (age 13-14).

In the freestyle relays, the Splash won five of the six races.  Teams consisting of Mateus Pa, Naomi Fortier, Jack Jarzyna and Nathan Vancleave (age 5-6), Sasha Clarke, Thomas Ahn, Sina Saferzadeh and Anthony Tatsuta (age 7-8), Annie Schwarzbart, Audrey Abrahams, Brandon Figueroa and Rohan Bhangay (age 9-10), Ethan MacVicar, Josephine Lee, Ian Abrahams and Angelina Song (age 11-12) and Joshua Schwarzbart, Ashley Palakian, Jack Fairchild and Lucas Miller (13-14) all finished in first place.

Three Splash records were broken on Saturday. Eight-year old Taylor Thongintra broke his own backstroke record with a time of 17.85 and set a record in the 25 freestyle with a time of 14.37. The 9-10 medley relay team of  Sophia Wall, Dylan McCahill, Ethan Knisely and Madi Lam also set a record with a time of 2:25.03.
