Irvine Swim League season wraps up with league finals – Orange County Register

The Irvine Swim League concluded its 32nd season with a very competitive and fun championship meet Saturday, Aug. 5, at the Woollett Aquatics Center.

The championship meet included 21 teams and 1,800 swimmers.

Woodbridge Tritons wrap up the season with records

The Woodbridge Tritons concluded their 2017 season with an outstanding performance at the Irvine Swim League Championships.

The Tritons finished the meet with two Division I age group titles, two team records, one relay first-place finish, three individual first-place finishes and 116 time improvements en route to a third place overall finish in Division 1.

Taking home an age-group title for the Woodbridge Tritons was the 5-6 team of Noelle Bakas, Alexis Chew, Grant Gibson, Veronika Khudiakova, Marc Koehler, Quincy Koh, Breylon Le, Taryn Nguyen, Taran Patel, Madison Ricks, Talula Rooke, Mia Sadeghian, Tyson Tran, Fletcher West, Addison Yu and Emily Yu, as well as the 7-8 team of Sophia Alessi, Gabriella Camacho, Ian Chen, Peyton Ferrero, Holly Fishburn, Vincent Guo, Paisley Koh, Kylie-Lynn Le, Ashley Ma, Mason Nguyen, Olivia Ricks, Zachary Rockoff, Aahana Soni, Max Stewart, Ava Tran, Lily Tsai, Finley West, John Wilson, Zeynep Wilson, Kylie Wynn and Erin Yoon.

Woodbridge swimmers breaking team records were Maya Nishizaka in the 9-10 age group girls 50-yard butterfly with a time of 31.52 and Amanda Anderson in the 15-18 girls 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 30.98.

Winning a relay event for the Tritons was the 5-6 age group mixed freestyle relay team of Alexis Chew, Talula Rooke, Mark Koehler and Madison Ricks with a time of 1:33.42.

Individual swimmers taking home a first place finish were Maya Nishizaka in the 9-10 age group girls 50-yard breaststroke and Veronika Khudiakova in the 5-6 age group girls 25-yard butterfly and 25 freestyle.

Woodbridge swimmers improving times in all of their individual races at the championships were Rogel Aguilar, Sophia Alessi, Amanda Anderson, Sarah Aramayo, Gabriella Camacho, Seline Cheung, Kendall Chew, Makenna Chung, Ian Du, Luke Gibson, Ella Goodemote, Vincent Guo and Marley Hickson.

Also, Kai Hoshina, Rin Hoshina, Delaney Klem, Katrina Loye, William Lui, Carson Mackenzie, Tej Patel, Mira Pham, Riley Pittman, Emma Reichert, Nathan Swedan, Dilon Tran, Fletcher West, Zeynep Wilson and Ethan Yu.

Northwood Pointe Flash finish the year strong

Seventy-four Northwood Pointe Flash swimmers competed in the championship last Saturday.
