Irvine Spectrum Center construction triggers tenants changes at the mall – Orange County Register

One of the biggest changes in the 22-year history of the Irvine Spectrum Center is the reimaging of the space formerly occupied by Macy’s.

The 140,000-square-foot department store has been demolished to make room for as many as 20 new shopping options. The Irvine Company has been quiet about the changes expected for the renovated space, which is slated to open in 2018.

With construction well underway, the rest of the mall has seen new tenants open, close or relocate.

Relocating tenants

Windsor, an apparel store geared for teenagers looking for special occasion dresses, moves this month to a new location. The store is near the Macy’s construction zone. However, the Irvine Co. said the move is unrelated to the mall expansion.
