iPhotonix is pleased to announce that its advanced universal customer premise equipment and SD-WAN technology were included in the Amdocs Network Function Virtualization (NFV) ecosystem that is powered by Open Network Automation Platform (ONAP). Amdocs’ NFV Powered by ONAP portfolio brings software that lets service providers design, create, orchestrate, and operate services that are based on virtual network functions (VNFs).

Amdocs, one of the leading software companies in the telecommunications market, has provided operational support systems and business support systems (OSS/BSS) to service providers for decades. Amdocs is expanding its expertise regarding physical networks to include virtual network functions.
As the carriers and enterprises move from static appliance-based networks to software based, elastic networks, they will be able to provide services and capacity on actual demand or based on predictive traffic patterns. Instead of building networks for high peak periods, networks will be set up dynamically to provide better services at lower price points and with maximum automation.
For the virtual service offering, Amdocs has created a partner ecosystem of vendors that provide more than 80 VNFs. These VNFs are easily plumbed into service provider networks, integrated with existing operational and business support systems and can be deployed either locally or in the public cloud. In addition to the uCPE and SD-WAN solutions of iPhotonix, examples of other third-party VNFs include applications related to security and IMS for VoLTE.
