Inside the Preseason All-County Team – Orange County Register

QB JT Daniels, Mater Dei, Jr. – If the recent USC commit only slightly improves on his 2016, he could reach 5,000 yards and 70 TDs. That’s scary territory.

RB KC Carr, Tustin, Sr. – The uncommitted senior should run wild again with ground-oriented Myron Miller calling plays. Carr erupted for 2,757 yards last season.

WR Delon Hurt, Servite, Sr. – Hurt was arguably the best wide out at the Battle at the Beach passing tournament in July. He’s ready to be the Friars’ No. 1 target but Mater Dei’s CJ Parks and Orange Lutheran’s Kyle Ford are on his heels.

WR Tae Le, Corona del Mar, Sr. – The returning first-team All-County wide out won’t have Chase Garbers throwing him the ball but at 6-foot-4, 237 pounds, Le will still produce.

WR Austin Osborne, Mission Viejo, Sr. – The Washington commit starred with Brock Johnson and Matt McDonald and now teams with new quarterback, St. John Bosco transfer Joey Yellen.

WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, Mater Dei, Sr. – The uncommitted senior might not just be the best receiver in the county. He could be the best player.

OL Peselao Gauta, Garden Grove, Sr. – At 6-foot-6, 330 pounds, Gauta is among the county’s most imposing players. He can clear a path in a hurry.

OL Chris Murray, Mater Dei, Sr. – Don’t just watch Tommy Brown at left tackle. Be sure to study Murray at right guard and see why Stanford and Notre Dame have recently offered.

OL Jarrett Patterson, Mission Viejo, Sr. – The Diablos have their own standout tackle in Patterson, who recently committed to Arizona State.

K Dylan Brady, Santa Margarita, Sr. – Brady won the West Coast Kicking Academy’s head-to-head competition in the offseason, taking the spot claimed by Mater Dei’s Chase McGrath (USC) the previous year.

DL Abdul-Malik McClain, JSerra, Sr. – The UCLA commit only scratched his potential last season with 7.5 sacks for Santa Margarita.

DL Zach Ritner, Capistrano Valley, Sr. – The defensive end was a sack machine in 2016, recording 18 for one of the county’s toughest units.
