ICAA’s Active Aging Week all Set to Ignite the Passion

Over the past 14 years millions of people have come together to embracing their potential, no matter their age, and to help shift perceptions of aging in their local communities.

Each year hundreds-of-thousand of adults aged 50 years and over gather at local senior living communities, parks, community and senior centers, wellness centers, health and fitness clubs and studios, YMCA, JCCs and other venues to celebrate Active Aging Week.

This internationally recognized event–USA, Canada, and Australia—highlights the passion that all people have for life and new experiences, irrespective of age. This is why the campaign organizer, International Council of Active Aging (ICAA), chose the theme “IGNITE YOUR PASSION” to celebrate 15th year of Active Aging Week.

Over the past 14 years millions of people have come together to embracing their potential, no matter their age, and to help shift perceptions of aging in their local communities.

During the last week of September, 24 – 30, 2017, over 3,000 host organizations will connect with older adults to help advance active, healthy aging in their center, community, city, state or country.

Now in its milestone year, thousands of organizations will be hosting events during Active Aging Week. Expect everything from dancing and drumming to ziplines and yoga, brain games to barbecues, cooking classes to skin health and footcare. Indoors or out, big or small, physical, emotional, mental or spiritual, the options are endless when it comes to an interest that sparks the mind, body or soul. Hosts are encouraged to be creative in designing events that capture the imagination of their participants and encourage expression of their enthusiasm for vibrant living.

With no cost attached, an entire week of fun, free events will seek to encourage participation, and showcase the vast wealth of options any individual can choose to help ignite their own passions.
