Firstly, it is important to understand that what kind of living organisms are parasitic roundworms? Roundworms, also stated as ‘Nematodes’ are invertebrates which possesses round and long body that are sometimes visible to the naked eye and sometimes they are too small that they cannot be seen without the help of a microscope. Basically, they are worm-like organisms which survive by living inside their host’s body. These parasitic roundworms receive their nourishment and protection from their hosts body and in return causes weakness and disease to them.

However, there are several types of parasitic roundworm diseases and they are as follows – Strongyloidiasis, Trichinosis, Whipworm Disease, Ascariasis, Hookworm Disease, Pinworm Infection etc.

 

It is also very crucial to understand that poor personal hygiene are the main reason which causes most of the parasitic diseases. Several factors like – lack of access to health care and low levels of education, inadequate sanitation measures, lack of a clean water supply etc. equally contribute in such type of health diseases. Hence, it is important to practice policy like – ‘Prevention is better than Cure’ in such health related cases.

 

One of the most dreadful diseases caused by such parasitical worms is – ‘River Blindness Onchocerciasis’. ‘Onchocerca Volvulus’ is the parasitical worm, which breeds in fast flowing rivers are responsible for river blindness Onchocerciasis disease. Millions of people around the world are victim of this dreadful disease and most of the victims belong to the central and western parts of Africa.
