How far does $1,500 go for rent in L.A. compared with major cities around the world? – Orange County Register

You could do worse than spend $1,500 to rent an apartment in Los Angeles.

That sum gets you just 530 square feet, says a new study by apartment website RentCafe. But in New York, you’d be squeezing into 277 square feet, and in San Francisco, only 316 square feet.

Need roomier digs? Forget Paris, where you’d be shoehorning yourself into a 321-square-foot spot.

There’s more bang for the buck in other major cities around the globe, the analysis shows. In Istanbul, for instance, you could stretch out in a relatively massive 1,899-square-foot spread for the $1,500.

Los Angeles ranks No. 20 on the list of space that sum buys in 30 cities. So how to make it work? Tiny homes are a thing now. So is valet public storage.
