A brief look at the Chargers’ training-camp practice on Monday at Jack Hammett Sports Complex:


Melvin Gordon broke out a long run during team drills on Monday, drawing cheers from the stands as he headed for the end zone. Suddenly, cornerback Michael Davis stole the moment. The undrafted rookie out of BYU reached for the ball, knocking it loose and turning the crowd in his favor.

Although the Chargers have what should be one of the league’s best cornerback duos in Casey Hayward and Jason Verrett, Davis is one of several players still vying for a spot on the depth chart.

Undrafted linebacker Nigel Harris also made a head-turning play, intercepting recently-acquired quarterback Cardale Jones in seven-on-seven drills.
