Dr. Pramit Malhotra with Ann Arbor Plastic Surgery recently spoke to Action 7 News on WXYZ Detroit to provide prospective patients information on the highly cohesive, form-stable gel implants that offer a more realistic look: Gummy Bear Breast Implants.
The most sought after plastic surgery available to women in the United States – breast augmentation – provides patients a new implant option called Gummy Bear breast implants. First time breast augmentation patients may opt for Gummy Bear Breast Implants, named after the candy bears that are semi-soft yet retain their shape, as an improved option over the look of traditional silicone or saline options, while return patients seeking improved aesthetics may undergo a secondary breast augmentation with the newer implant option.
Dr. Malhotra was among the first plastic surgeons in Michigan to offer Gummy Bear breast implants to his patients following their FDA-approval in 2012. The doctor explains that nearly half his breast augmentation patients opt for this teardrop-shaped implant type. Gummy Bear implants offer greater lifting capabilities than silicone or saline implants, providing a slightly elevated placement. While silicone breast implants contain a sticky, gelatinous form of silicone, and saline implants are filled with a biocompatible saltwater liquid, Gummy Bear implants are unique in their composition. The implants contain a textured shell that helps the implant to remain in place, and an interior of a semi-solid gel material. Because of their form, rippling and rupture are less common with Gummy Bear Implants. The Ann Arbor doctor is excited to reach a broader audience through this news segment, which has been broadcast throughout the metro Detroit, Michigan area. Dr. Malhotra provides benefits and possible side effects of the implants, providing a balanced approach to possible consumers. Watch the clip of the segment here.
