Chowing down the competition at the La Habra Corn Festival – Orange County Register

The school year has yet to begin and La Habra High School already has city bragging rights.

The football team and cheerleader squads from La Habra defeated the Sonora High teams in the yearly corn eating competition at the 69th annual La Habra Corn Festival. Several other by-age contests were held as well.

More than 30,000 people attended the three-day festival hosted by the La Habra Host Lions Club Aug. 4-6 at El Centro Lions Park.

Grand Marshal Aliyah Moulden, a recent finalist on NBC’s hit singing competition, “The Voice,” led marching bands, classic cars and floats down the parade route on Saturday morning. Later that evening, the local singer performed a free concert to a large crowd at the park.
