The Oakland Raiders and quarterback, Derek Carr, have finalized a five-year contract extension worth $125 million, making Carr the highest paid player in NFL history.

Andy Reid has turned the Kansas City Chiefs into a perennial playoff contender, and now he’s being rewarded for it. However, he’ll have to sustain the franchise’s success amid a major change to the front office.

The club announced an extension for its coach Thursday shortly before revealing the departure of general manager John Dorsey.

“I notified John that we would not be extending his contract beyond the 2017 season, and after consideration, we felt it was in his best interests and the best interests of the team to part ways now,” team chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said in a statement. “This decision, while a difficult one, allows John to pursue other opportunities as we continue our preparations for the upcoming season and the seasons to come.
