Former NBA player Charles Oakley will make his debut as a player for the Killer 3s of the Big3 basketball league Sunday at the Staples Center.

The league announced Friday that Oakley, who is listed as a player/coach, will take the floor in the final regular-season stop of the tour, while team captain Chauncey Billups will take over the coaching duties.

The 53-year-old Oakley played for five NBA teams in 19 seasons, most notably in New York with the Knicks, where he played 10 seasons and helped lead the team to the Finals in 1994.

The three-on-three league debuted this year and founder Ice Cube said that he hopes it can turn into a relaxed-yet-competitive venture to keep retired players involved in the game and performing in front of fans. The rapper-turned-league-founder has said he has eyes on several current and former players, including Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki.
