The National Education Association describes National Teacher Day as “a day for honoring teachers and recognizing the lasting contributions they make to our lives.” As a unique way to honor local educators, real estate duo Tracey Miller and Kelly Cahill, of The Cahill & Miller Group and Allen Tate REALTORS®, purchased pizzas and provided lunch for more than 100 teachers at Fort Mill High School.
“Our community is fortunate to have excellent schools and caring teachers, and we wanted to do something nice for them and say ‘thank you,’” said Kelly, an avid reader who volunteers at her child’s school. “Both Tracey and I have children in high school, and feel these are the teachers that often get overlooked.”
Longtime supporters of teachers and students, in the past the Cahill & Miller Group has donated bicycles and helmets to a local Fort Mill elementary school through the Angel Tree program. “The Angel Tree program is through the school and anyone can choose a child to sponsor,” added Tracey, whose husband is an educator in the Fort Mill School District. “We give a lot of our time to volunteering in the community and through the schools.”
The Cahill & Miller Group also participated in career day this spring at Gold Hill Middle School, educating 5th graders about real estate. “We helped them do a simple math exercise that showed them how to figure square footage and also showed photos of homes and what it costs to purchase the homes,” concluded Kelly.
