Bournemouth has the chance to jump above rivals Southampton in the Premier League table today.
A mid-week defeat to Burnley has left Eddie Howe’s side a precarious four-points above the relegation zone.
However, three points at the Vitality Stadium would see Bournemouth rise above Southampton, who currently reside in 11th place.
The side has a strong record against Bournemouth – losing only one of their last nine meetings.
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe told the BBC: “Before the Burnley game, I think we’ve been in good form and building nicely throughout the season and I don’t think we should let that result affect us too much.
“Ultimately, we were disappointed with our performance and we know we can do better. So it’s up to us, starting on Sunday, to bounce back.
“This is going to be an important game for us. We know they’re a very good team, collectively and individually, and our games against them in recent years have been tight encounters.”
Bournemouth have lost four of their seven home league matches.
However Southampton have lost three of their last four Premier League matches.
Earlier this week, Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino said: “We have to be proud in the way we approached the Man City game but we cannot be happy about that because we always need to look to improve, we have a derby next.
“I know that Bournemouth are a side who want to grow and get better. For me, they keep the base of the team and most of them grew together.”
