Ballerina Misty Copeland’s secrets for staying stylishly en pointe

She captivates onstage as a swan queen, a firebird and a princess, but ballerina Misty Copeland’s most enduring role is that of inspiration. In 2015, she made history as the first African-American woman promoted to principal dancer in the American Ballet Theatre’s 75-year history. Before breaking that barrier, she won multiple awards, toured with Prince and served on the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition. This year, she published a wellness book, “Ballerina Body,” and became the new face of Estée Lauder’s “Modern Muse” fragrance. When she’s not soaring to new heights, Copeland, 35, relaxes in New York with her husband, lawyer Olu Evans.

Here, she shares with Alexa her fashion and beauty repertoire.

“Princetown” leather slippers, $995 at Gucci

“Comfortable, stylish, fun, and did I say comfortable? My favorite shoes that I purchased in 2017.”

Roland Mouret “Rocko” skirt, $1,115, and “Andros” bustier, $1,115 at Net-a-Porter

“Altogether, it’s the perfect holiday party outfit!”

Alexander McQueen crocodile-embossed leather knuckle clutch, $1,795 at Neiman Marcus

“My fave clutch in my closet at the moment. A bit of edge without going too over the top.”

Superfine hair spray, $36 at Oribe

“This hairspray smells so good I could eat it. Sometimes I spray it in my hair even if I don’t need it because it’s so delicious. It’s perfect for a soft hold — the opposite of what I need on the stage but great in everyday life.”

Beats Studio3 wireless headphones, $350 at Apple

“I have really small ear canals, so most headphones just don’t work for me, but these are comfortable. When I’m on vacation, I can give myself an entire ballet barre with my headphones. They don’t fall off and I don’t get tangled in cords.”

“Love” bracelet in pink gold, $6,300 at Cartier

“This was actually my wedding gift to my husband. I had it engraved with our wedding date and everything. I gave it to him the morning of our wedding and it was too small! LOL! So I kept it and got him a slightly different one. I probably wear it too much, but it really can class up an outfit. Or a leotard.”

$40 at Estee Lauder

“I put this on every night before I go to bed as well as in the mornings, although I don’t think you’re supposed to. But it makes me feel fresh and taut.”
