She captivates onstage as a swan queen, a firebird and a princess, but ballerina Misty Copeland’s most enduring role is that of inspiration. In 2015, she made history as the first African-American woman promoted to principal dancer in the American Ballet Theatre’s 75-year history. Before breaking that barrier, she won multiple awards, toured with Prince and served on the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition. This year, she published a wellness book, “Ballerina Body,” and became the new face of Estée Lauder’s “Modern Muse” fragrance. When she’s not soaring to new heights, Copeland, 35, relaxes in New York with her husband, lawyer Olu Evans.

“I have really small ear canals, so most headphones just don’t work for me, but these are comfortable. When I’m on vacation, I can give myself an entire ballet barre with my headphones. They don’t fall off and I don’t get tangled in cords.”
“This was actually my wedding gift to my husband. I had it engraved with our wedding date and everything. I gave it to him the morning of our wedding and it was too small! LOL! So I kept it and got him a slightly different one. I probably wear it too much, but it really can class up an outfit. Or a leotard.”
