45-year-old CNN anchor Anderson Cooper spoke publicly for the first time about his homosexuality on “Anderson Live” after his decision to come out as gay in a column written by his friend, Andrew Sullivan on Monday (September 10, 2012). During the second season premiere of his freshly renamed daytime talk show, the silver-haired journalist explained why he finally decided to share the news with the public. “I’ve been torn for a long time between a desire as a reporter to just do my job and be known as a reporter, and at the same time I do think visibility is important,” Anderson Cooper said when he was asked by his co-host Kristen Chenoweth about his public declaration of his sexuality in July. “I do think that the tide of history only moves forward when everybody is fully visible.” It seemed that the son of heiress Gloria Vanderbilt had “a big summer” when he not only had to face media scrutiny after coming out but also suffered from his boyfriend’s cheating scandal. Anderson Cooper’s boyfriend Benjamin Maisani was photographed kissing and canoodling with a mystery man in the park in a sunny afternoon in NYC, which made Anderson Cooper red-faced and reportedly devastated.

The 45-year-old talk show host and his longtime love still live together despite breakup rumors following the reports that Ben had been caught kissing another man.
Benjamin Maisani, an Eastern Bloc bar owner, and his partner were encouraged to marry last year by Anderson’s mother Gloria Vanderbilt. The designer helped the couple patch up their relationship after they struggled with conflicting work schedules.
