AIG, Aon, Zurich, Among Big Winners at First-Ever Insurance Business Awards

Over 450 attendees flew in from all over the nation to cheer on the winners.

“We’re proud to acknowledge the stellar achievements of those in the insurance industry and give them the recognition they so richly deserve. We can’t wait to do it all over again,” said Chris Davis, Event Director.

Despite a difficult year for the industry in which Hurricanes Harvey and Irma battered areas of the US and caused losses of an estimated $50 billion, the insurance community still rallied together on November 29 as a host of winners were crowned at the very first Insurance Business Awards America.

Awards in 22 categories were also handed out, highlighting a vast array of benchmark industry achievements from the past year.

Over 450 attendees flew in from all over the nation to cheer on the winners, who were carefully selected by an expert judging panel following nominations from the readers of Insurance Business. The event was organized by Key Media, the publishers of Insurance Business, and hosted by TV personality Alfonso Ribeiro. It was held in support of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation.

Among those taking home a trophy were industry giants AIG (The Kemperlesnik Award For Corporate Social Responsibility), Aon (Insurance Industry Employer Of Choice – More Than 100 Employees) and Zurich North America (The Aon Benfield Award For Philanthropy And Community Service).

Other winners included Alan J. Kaufman of H.W. Kaufman Group (Lifetime Achievement Award), Strategic Insurance Agency Alliance (Network/Alliance of the Year – Membership of More than 100 Agencies), Lockton Companies (Retail Agency of the Year) and Rusty Reid of Higginbotham (Agency CEO of the Year).

“I take great pride in receiving this award,” said Reid, “but it really goes to our 900 employee shareholders. A part of our strategy is to be the best place for employees to work, best advocate for our clients, and most importantly best community partner.”
