Aaron Carter Gets Emotional During Performance At Gay Night Club

Singer Aaron Carter took to Twitter Thursday to share a video from his emotional performance at a gay bar in his hometown of Brandon, Florida. It marked the 29-year-old’s first performance after revealing to fans that he has struggled with his sexual orientation for years.

In the video footage, Carter said to audience members, “I just want to say thank you for believing in me today, guys. Even if you don’t, I still love you. Okay, that’s done.”

He captioned the tweets of the video, “So overwhelmed right now with the love and energy from you tonight Tampa.”

Carter penned a revealing essay to his Twitter account Aug. 5, which unveiled his interest towards men and women in a romantic capacity. He began, “This doesn’t bring me shame, just a weight and burden I have held onto for a long time that I would like lifted off of me.

“I grew up in this entertainment industry at a very young age and when I was around 13-years-old I started to find boys and girls attractive,” he continued. “There were years that went by that I thought about it, but it wasn’t until I was 17-years old, after a few relationships with girls, I had an experience with a male that I had an attraction to who I also worked with and grew up with.”

Carter announced that he decided to call it quits with Madison Parker, who was the singer’s girlfriend for less than a year. According to Us Weekly, Parker found it challenging to come to terms with Carter’s sexuality. However, the “Fools Gold” singer is reportedly “relieved” to no longer be attached to his former girlfriend.

Carter addressed the breakup on Twitter Saturday, saying, “My decision and choices are apart of me, no matter what the outcome may be. Being single isn’t fun I’m not gonna lie. But I’m gonna do it for awhile for myself.” The singer also shared a more cryptic tweet about his current status, saying, “Some people aren’t loyal to you, they are loyal to their need of you. Once their needs change so do their loyalties as I’ve learned.”
