With no fewer than 13 distinct Mercedes-Benz model lines in the U.S. alone for 2017, ranging from diminutive roadsters to giant SUVs—to say nothing of the Maybach and AMG spinoffs—there’s no premium-automobile customer Mercedes won’t attempt to woo. Among them are traditional luxury-coupe buyers, a small but influential group that has proved valuable to Benz for decades. Former Washington Husky Cheng-Tsung Pan ties for 2nd in PGA Tour event won by Jon Rahm

Jon Rahm won the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego by three strokes. Ex-UW standout Cheng-Tsung Pan, 25, earned $589,600 for a second-place tie, his best performance on the PGA Tour. Golf Rahm wins; Pan ties for 2nd place Jon Rahm of Spain added his name to the list of young stars Sunday with his big game and a big finish at Torrey Pines in San Diego. With Trump in office, coal mining town begins making comeback

Hazard, Kentucky is one of those small coal-mining towns with one main road snaking through the hollow. Both sides of the road are lined with a handful of retail stores and restaurants. The windows on about half of those stores are now covered with newspaper. The signs out front say, “closed.” That’s what happens in a one-industry town when the president turns against that industry.
