Nielsen sticks with subscriber report challenged by ESPN

LOS ANGELES The Nielsen ratings agency on Friday reaffirmed a report about U.S. pay television customers that was challenged by Walt Disney Co’s ESPN sports network. Media reports said the Nielsen data suggested ESPN lost 621,000 subscribers from a month earlier. Neither Nielsen or ESPN released the numbers publicly, but ESPN questioned the accuracy of the findings. In a statement on its website, Nielsen said that an “extensive review” undertaken after ESPN objected showed that estimates of cable subscribers provided on Oct. 28 were accurate. British Olympic Association congratulate Scotland and Northern Ireland for Wales' Euro 2016 success in bizarre start to Tokyo talks

Negotiations around Great Britain fielding football teams at the 2020 Olympics have got off to a bizarre start, with Scotland and Northern Ireland receiving congratulations from the British Olympic Association on Wales reaching the Euro 2016 semi-finals. BOA chief Bill Sweeney, who has already been in contact with the FA, wrote bespoke letters to the football associations of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales requesting a meeting to start talks about combined teams, a subject that has met much opposition since London 2012.
