California mayor says he never endangered children at camp

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The embattled mayor of one of California’s largest cities forcefully declared his innocence Friday, denying charges that he supplied alcohol to teenagers for a strip poker game in his room at a youth camp and declaring himself a victim of a smear campaign by political enemies. Australia's Nick Kyrgios advances to Atlanta semifinals

ATLANTA (AP) — Second-seeded Nick Kyrgios of Australia advanced to the BB&T Atlanta Open semifinals Friday, beating fifth-seeded Fernando Verdasco of Spain 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-3. The winner in Marseille, France, in February for his lone tour title, Kyrgios was coming off a rain-interrupted victory over Jared Donaldson late Thursday. Kyrgios will face Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka, a 6-4, 6-4 winner over Argentina’s Horacio Zeballos. Three-time defending champion John Isner and three other Americans played at night.
