Fitbit beats second-quarter earnings expectations

Shares of Fitbit Inc. FIT, -3.87% were up 1% after hours Tuesday after the company beat second-quarter earnings expectations. Fitbit reported net income of $6.3 million, or 3 cents per share, down from $17.7 million, or 7 cents per share in the year-earlier period. It reported adjusted earnings per share of 12 cents, above the FactSet consensus of 11 cents. Olympics-Swimming-Australia mourns death of oldest Olympian

By Alan Baldwin RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug 2 (Reuters) – Australia mourned the death of its oldest Olympian on Tuesday after former swimming coach and modern pentathlete Forbes Carlile passed away in Sydney at the age of 95. Carlile coached Australia at the 1948 London Games and competed in Helsinki in 1952.
