Girl, 6, seriously hurt in Happy Valley-Goose Bay landfill has long recovery ahead

A 6-year-old girl hit by a bulldozer in the Happy Valley-Goose Bay dump is “very lucky” but still facing months of recovery, says the band chief in Sheshatshiu. “I didn’t know what to expect,” Chief Eugene Hart said when he arrived on the scene on Saturday. As Big 12 ponders expansion, American on guard for losses

The Big 12 presidents will consider in the coming weeks whether the league should expand, leaving the American Athletic Conference on guard for the possibility of one or more defections. “We always have plans for contingencies that might arise,” American Athletic Conference Commissioner Mike Aresco told the AP on Tuesday. “It’s no secret that there could be more realignment. We discuss this a bit with our membership, but mainly to focus on the cohesion of the conference. We ask people to respect the membership. Huntington Beach looks at sober living

Taking a page from Costa Mesa’s and Newport Beach’s playbooks, Huntington Beach may be heading down the road toward addressing the issue of sober-living facilities and controls for them in the city. However, mindful of legal entanglements the other two cities encountered while enacting ordinances regarding sober-living facilities, Huntington Beach is proceeding carefully.
